Every year The Kiwi Diary relies on the support of some incredible people and companies, (yep: sponsors!) who through their support, are actively demonstrating where their values lie.
The Kiwi Diary 2012 is very generously supported by the following friends:
The PEW Environment Group, well, they're our heroes; working globally to, "establish pragmatic, science-based policies that protect our oceans, preserve our wildlands and promote the clean energy economy", ... "to save the natural environment and protect the rich array of life it supports". Working alongside Bronwen and Amelia at PEW to co-ordinate the story of their Kermadecs Initiative for the 2012 diary was incredibly inspiring. They're formidable smarts have convinced us that the environment is in good hands!
We've been admirers of the gorgeous and ethical fashion at Starfish for years, and are honoured to have Starfish onboard. Founder Laurie Foon is a beacon in the business world for walking the sustainability talk in every aspect of her business. Sticking to her ethical guns since day one, she makes sure all materials used are both ethical and environmentally sustainable, all the while designing mouth-wateringly beautiful garments to keep NZ beautiful! In 2007 Starfish was the first fashion label to win a New Zealand Sustainable Business award.
Stephanie and Nick Fry are the dynamic husband and wife duo behind Celcius Coffee. Not only do we love them for supporting The Kiwi Diary, but for bringing to the table some of New Zealand's tastiest fair-trade organic coffee, with true style and panache; showing that success can be achieved without social and environmental factors being compromised at any step of the way, yay! They are a leading example of a new breed of business: a breed that follows the cradle-to-cradle ethos, showing some respect for the planet. Plus, just one conversation with the gorgeous Stephanie out at their Lower Hutt Cafe, and you'll be an instant convert to the wonder that is a freshly brewed Celcius flat white!
Felt is one ultra crafty NZ-based online marketplace for handmade goods, designed to enable artists, designers and craftspeople to promote their work and connect with buyers. Lucy Arnold is the extremely clever founding chiquita of Felt, and is another champion of showing business can be successful without compromising the environment and society. She's also really nice ;-)
Step inside a Commonsense Organics Store and you'll never go back to a supermarket again! Commonsense Organics is more than an organics store, it's an institution. This family-run business is fully engaged with the community, with its growers, treats its staff like family, produces thought-provoking newsletters, makes wholesome soup to get you through winter and even has an instore naturopath! Commonsense Organics support a flourishing community in everything they do, and have been a supporter of The Kiwi Diary for years.
Ikoiko design and gift store is the go-to place for fun, styley & cool gifts and objets d'art at the lower end of Wellington's Cuba Street. They also have a social and environmental bent, supporting positive community-initiatives, because they care, rock on!
Behind every book, is a printer, and behind this printer, is an amazing guy called Grant who would probably prefer to remain anonymous, but quite frankly, after 8 years of producing The Kiwi Diary, we recognise a good printer when we see one and want to do a big shout out to Big Image Print! These guys come highly recommended. Word.
The Kiwi Diary has contained loads of planet-loving ideas since our inaugural edition back in 2006, in the hope that ideas turn into more informed actions and ultimately better habits. Contact us anytime - we'd love to hear your ideas.
